Bismarck recovers crew despite Halonian nukes
Captain Willow Sabeen, Chief of Staff, Task Group Alpha
Following support operations conducted by the USS Bismarck (NCC-1108-C), USS Gridley (NCC-75723) and USS Repulse (NCC-2544-B), the status of Halon as a Federation Protectorate is currently being reviewed by the Committee on Protectorates of the Federation Internal Affairs Council. Deployed in support of Federation Ambassador Sorem of Vulcan, the ships arrived to conduct good-will operations and to support public works projects by the local population. During the mission, an attack by unknown mercenaries occurred at the Temtary Generating Station, where Starfleet personnel from the USS Bismarck were operating. While I can not release full details at this time, multiple attempts by both Starfleet personnel from the Bismarck and Special Forces personnel of the Halonian military were unsuccessful at rescuing the personnel detail at the facility.
The local government opted to launch three thermonuclear missiles, with a combined yield of 21 megatons, to destroy the facility, knowing that Starfleet personnel were still on site. Despite being ordering by Ambassador Sorem to stand down, Commodore Shepherd and his crew continued their operation and were successful in recovery their personnel. One runabout was severely damaged and has since been decommissioned, but no serious causalities among Starfleet personnel have been reported.
Charges laid by the Ambassador against the Commodore, for disobeying orders and conduct unbecoming, have since been dropped. Any questions or concerns can be directed to Public Affairs Office, Task Group Alpha, Suite 2547 Level 25, Deep Space 19.
