In an effort to contain what can be considered one of the biggest threats to the alpha and beta quadrants since the Dominion War, Starfleet has dispatched a number of vessels with Security forces to starbase Far Reach Station in the Bellatrix system.

A spokesperson for the Department of Health and Civil Services was quoted as saying that at the moment, there was no reason to be alarmed, and Starfleet was going to do everything in their power to ensure the safety of the Federation citizens. An insider who is to remain anonymous, however, tells is that if this infection was not properly contained, it might spell certain death for billions of people.

We are further told that the infection does not seem to be airborne, but incubation time is very short and the health damage is irreversible. Starbase Far Reach Station remains under full quarantine, and we cannot reach anyone there for comments. Rumours are flooding in from the area that the starbase might have to be destroyed. As of this moment it is unsure whether or not any residents or personnel can be saved or are, in fact, still alive.
