Oberon’s first mission under former First Officer now Captain Jared Hex ended in success with the rescue of the crew of the Medical Ship Salk. The vessel suffered a catastrophic failure of its Main Computer and strayed into the Draken Nebula. Several injuries were reported along with a number of deaths though Starfleet reports that the death toll would have been higher if not for the efforts of the Oberon. The Salk was lost when its warp core encured a breach due to damage sustained in the wake the computer failure.

Captain DePaul had these words –

“The valiant efforts of the Oberon saved lives and valuable research that I am sure will be of great benefit to the Federation’s future. We are all deeply saddened by the loss of our crewmates and we are in their debt as they gave their lives to save us.”

Captain DePaul also assured us that all Medical Research materials remained secure during and after the rescue.
