DCR discusses Uniforms & Ranks

The Department of Creative Resources completed consideration on alterations to the current uniform design and rank insignias used by Sixth Fleet. The discussion is now slated to go to the Command Senate in the near future.

One proposed change includes alternate departmental colors:

Brett Gann writes about the UFP Government

The United Federation of Planets, like any government, is a puzzling network of councils, committees, departments, and agencies. Computer Qualification Levels

Computer Qualification Levels

Starfleet qualified Spock as an "A7 computer expert," but what exactly does that mean? It has not been referenced if the greatest computer expert of the TOS era, Dr. Richard Daystrom had a similar rating; in which case it leaves us with two possibilities.
* The ratings were specific to Starfleet or
* The ratings are Federation-wide, and Daystrom's was just never mentioned.

The new department has formed, and discussions are ongoing on a variety of topics. Results of discussions will be sent to the Senate list, published on Memory Zeta, and via FNN (either by bulletin or by regular issue).

New Avalon Class vessel about to be launched

The 6th Fleet branch of Starfleet Engineering's Research and Design Bureau has recently finished a new variant of the Olympic Class vessel which will be christened the "USS Avalon-A".

This lead ship of the new "Avalon Class" variant will be a Command Cruiser rather than the standard Medical ship. As such tactical ability has been increased, and expansion of the shuttlebay to allow a squadron of Fighters.
